The Residency offers an opportunity to select artworks from Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum's collection, to study them more closely while on site in a dedicated space with time for reflection and creative development.   

Encouraging meaningful community engagement, creating opportunities for dialogue, exchange and offering insight into the creative process and the development of new work.

Banana Shire Regional Art Gallery

Reflections and Refractions by Lani Burville injects new life into discarded domestic objects through a series of beautifully rendered watercolour paintings. Using the traditional practice of still-life painting, Burville depicts locally sourced second-hand reflective or transparent objects. She brings them into a new context by looking past the intended function of the object and focusing on their unintentional beauty. Reflections and Refractions encourages viewers to notice the chance moments of beauty in everyday life, that are so often overlooked.

This exhibition is supported by the RADF. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Banana Shire Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland
